The Lions Gate Film “Expendables 3” lost millions in sales after a downloadable high-quality movie copy was released by various websites before its premier. About 2.2 million stolen copies were downloaded as of August 1. The lost in revenue cannot be estimated since it is impossible to tell how many would be willing to pay just to see the film. Six websites which have not been namedropped just yet will be battling the copyright infringement case that the multi-million dollar film company filed against them. Temporary restraining orders have been released by t he court to prevent further spread of the pirated copies. Investigation reveals that the leaked copy originated from a high-quality digital file deemed to be stolen.
